Narayanan Krishnan was an award-winning chef at a 5-star restaurant, now his entire life is dedicated to feeding the homeless. There are approxiamately 80 million, yes, 80 million homeless people in the country of India, and Narayanan Krishnan wants to help as many of them as possible. He started his own non-proft organization in 2002 and is now serving food, love, and compassion towards the homeless and mental ill destitute. Krishnan  brings hot meals to these people 365 days per year. He wakes up at 4am every morning and cooks and serves food rain or shine. 400 people are fed, 3 times a day all year around. Since 2002 his non-profit organization Akshaya Trust has served more than 1.2 million meals. Krishnan even showers and shaves the homeless, which gives them dignity. Krishnan is now one of CNNs Heroes Of The Year.

“I saw a very old man eating his own human waste for food,” Krishnan said. “It really hurt me so much. I was literally shocked for a second. After that, I started feeding that man and decided this is what I should do the rest of my lifetime.”
